Besides being part of our brand name, “denier” is probably one of the most common words to stumble across when shopping for hosiery. The simple explanation is that denier refers to how sheer or opaque the product is – the lower the denier, the more sheer the product is. The technical definition, however, is how much 9.000 meters of a yarn weighs in grams. If 9.000 meters of a nylon yarn weighs 30 grams, the hosiery made from it will be labeled as a “30 denier” product. The higher the denier, the more durable the product will mostly be. This is because low denier fabrics are also more delicate.
